Here are some "snapshots" to give you an idea of the kinds of projects that I have worked on.

Corporate Web Apps - LDS Church

Newsroom.lds.org - This project rewrites the current Newsroom site using Java, Vignette V7 Content Management, and Dynamic Site featuring multimedia support, dynamic searching, and RSS feeds. This Agile project started August 2006 and will be completed December 2006 in time for the start of the Presidential election season in 2007.

Screening and NAPI - An Agile team of 20 Java / DBA Engineers completed these two projects over three years utilizing J2EE, Savvion workflow, Struts, Spring, JDBC, JSP, AJAX, Oracle PL/SQL, and IBM WebSphere. These apps allow a small handful of users to manage hundreds of applications each week for missionary service in languages and countries all over the world. Further development will also utilize JSF, Spring, and Hibernate.

Corporate Web Apps - Xerox OPB Customer Support

Customer Activity Report, Support Performance Report, and Major Accounts (rewrite) - I have been the Project Lead in rewriting these applications from PL/SQL (Oracle IAS) to ColdFusion with Oracle stored procedures. Using application and database developers based in India, we were able to complete the entire set of applications between August and September 2003. By retiring the legacy applications on this platform, Xerox will save thousands of dollars in overhead.

Parts Ordering and Service Claims for Xerox Authorized Service Providers - I wrote the first phase of this application in October 2000 in ColdFusion using an Oracle database and our corporate CRM system. In October 2001, I was the Lead Developer as this application was rewritten, utilizing two other ColdFusion developers and an Oracle PL/SQL developer. This application is used by over 1500 ASPs in North America and over 200 ASPs in Europe, making millions of dollars in transactions each year.

Major Accounts - I completed this application in August 2000, and this version was actively used until it was rewritten in 2003. It is written in PL/SQL for Oracle Application Server (now Internet Application Server). It queries Metrix OpenUPTIME CRM on Oracle 8i for the data.

Freelance internet development work

Big Brother Construction - Big Brother Construction approached me about completely designing their site from scratch. They were looking for a static marketing site with a professional look and feel to give further credibility to their new business (established January 2005).

Mortgage First Inc - This was a moderate-sized addition to the existing Mortgage First intranet web site, written in ColdFusion MX and MySQL. It is designed to automate the registration and transfer of mortgages with MERS, a large mortgage brokerage service. It is event-driven, preserving an audit trail on all EDI transactions made with MERS.

Rigby Showcase Homes - After two years of working with inexperience developers and no results, Rigby Showcase Homes, a custom home builder in Northern Utah, hired me to refine the existing internet site design and create an intranet site so that the general contractor and staff can document their client communications and track the house building progress. (shown right) The next major revision will include online status and photos for the home owners and communication / tracking for subcontractors. The site is written in ColdFusion MX utilizing a PostreSQL relational database, and is hosted on a Linux / Apache web server.

I created two alternate designs (shown below).

Hearthstone Design - I took over maintenance on this existing ColdFusion 4.5 site in Fall 2001 for selling house plans from a local architecture firm. I have since rewritten much of the site, trying to use the existing "look and feel". It started with a MySQL database, but I migrated the data to a PostreSQL database when we switched hosts. Most of the content is maintained through admin screens, including secure order processing and fulfillment.

Hale Family Organization - The Hale Family Organization is a nonprofit genealogical organization which was founded on February 27, 1889. I am a direct descendent of one of the founders and in August 2003 decided to contribute by creating this web site to communicate with extended family members. It consists of a customized web log (Movable Type) and photo gallery (Gallery), both written in PHP with a PostreSQL database. As of this writing I am customizing another application to display the 60,000+ family pedigree information on the web site.

MetrologyJobs.com - (Note: This site is unfortunately no longer available on the internet.) This application was originally written in FrontPage. At the request of the owner I have retained the original "look and feel" and rewritten it in ColdFusion, enhancing existing functionality, and adding new features such as...
  1. A separate sign-on feature for job seekers and company HR reps
  2. Allowing users to modify their own resume
  3. An advanced search feature
  4. Tracking who is authorized to search for resumes
A simple music site - Truth be known, I wrote this for my talented brother, Joseph, as a supplement to the auditions he performs for. He and his wife had been living in Manhattan, New York, trying to make it in the challenging entertainment business. After trying out the tough life in the entertainment business for a few years, Joseph has gone back to school to study dentistry! This page is written with DHTML with links to MP3s of his songs. (Please Note: After getting linked to from some popular MP3 search sites, I had to remove the MP3 files I had included. Downloaders were draining my limited bandwidth!)
